Glenn M.
Fisher grew up in Liberty, Nebraska and worked as an
inspector at the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha, Nebraska during World War II.
He joined the Civil Air Patrol and became the commanding officer of his
squadron. Fisher wrote a curriculum for a course in airplane and engine
mechanics for the University of Omaha and taught the first
session of the course. In 1944 he earned his pilot’s license and became a
commercial pilot and flight instructor. After the war, Fisher started a
flying school in Kansas and did aerial
photography. From 1970 until his death, he served as Accident Prevention
Counselor for the Federal Aviation Administration. In 1980 he was named General
Aviation Flight Instructor of the Year.
