The Navigational Aids Division is responsible for the engineering, installation, and maintenance of the Department owned navigational aids. These aids consist of  VOR’s, DME's, NDB’s and AWOS III’s. The division also leases low intensity runway lighting systems to qualifying airports. They are a resource for runway and taxiway lighting problems.

This division works with the FAA to establish instrument approaches for the local airports.

The electronic navigational aids equipment is provided to airports on a cost-share basis. The local airport’s provide shelters, utilities and reimburse the department for approximately one-half of the NDB maintenance costs and one-third of the VOR, DME and AWOS maintenance costs.

These facilities are maintained in the interest of providing safe and efficient flight operation in all types of weather conditions.

The division is centrally located in Nebraska on the Kearney Municipal Airport.
