Wind Measurement Equipment Towers in Nebraska that exceed a height of 50’ and are outside the boundaries of any incorporated city or village are required to be registered with the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics.

To register a Wind Measurement Equipment Tower (met tower) by emailing us a spreadsheet file, click here. Complete this spreadsheet, save it and attach it to an email to Soni.Stone@nebraska.gov.

Mail it to the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, 3431 Aviation Road, Suite 150, Lincoln, NE 68524. Or print and complete the form, then scan it and email it to Soni.Stone@nebraska.gov.

Notice must be filed with the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics when Wind Measurement Equipment Towers are removed.

IN addition, a separate permit is required from the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics before erecting/building any structure exceeding a height of 150 feet above the surface of the ground at the point of installation, unless erected under the authority of a license or permit issued by a federal agency. See Nebraska Revised Statutes 3-401 et. Seq.
